After my caffeine fix I decided to head off to Pt Elliot to a little knick knack shop I LOVE. Also, there is a lovely little craft shop in Middleton where all crafty people in the area sell their wares and volunteer to work the shop. Even if I don't buy I find some great ideas to either make or research for here. They had an impressive selection of handmade fudge, jams & pickles. I bought a small pack of lemon slice, an orange & chocolate fudge and a small nougat, which on sampling for you all, I can say that it was delicious. There was a very interesting man looking after the centre today and corrected everything I said. He disagreed with all wording I used to describe the great skills of the people of Middleton.
Middleton Arts & Crafts
There is only a small distance between these towns so it didn't take long for me to arrive in Pt Elliot. I found my store and started searching through their many baskets of beads, buttons & ribbons etc. After a time I needed to straighten up which is just as well or I would still be there. I bought a small selection of beads and findings and vowed I must find time soon for beading. (I don't think I have had the beads out at all this year)By now it was time for lunch so I treated myself to Coopers Beer Batter fish and chips at the Flying Fish and a glass of Moscato. I sat looking out over Horseshoe Bay watching a few people swimming and fishing. (Although it wasn't that warm and rain threatened). It is a HUGE serve and is totally delicious. I ate as much as I could and it took quite a while but the ambience made it easy to sit there and muse.
People on the beach, at beautiful Horseshoe Bay
Although there was much more I wanted to do I really felt a little spent so called it quits and started the drive back to Goolwa. I have already achieved more in these last 3 days than I would in a week so was starting to feel quite fatigued and knew I had reached a limit. It was so pleasing to reach the motel, safety of my room and a nice hot English Breakfast tea. I may see a couple more sites in the morning before I head back to McLaren Vale, but we will wait and see. Once again I am so blessed to live on the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula where you have so much at our fingertips to see and do.
I will write a few notes tomorrow on my trip home, hopefully with something interesting to tell.
One thing to note is the beautiful wattle everywhere along the roadsides. It is wonderful to see our national flower so abundant.
