10 Weeks to Christmas (on our countdown)

Time to begin another week.  School goes back for South Australia this week, I believe the other states went back last week.  However, we now have the pressure of exams for the older students (whether they be 18 or 90 depending on what educational institution they are in), end of year activities for younger students, get together (s) to celebrate end of year (or work Christmas Parties) and finally ticking along the countdown to Christmas and New Year.

In the mean time our everyday life continues.  My crafts will be looking at Christmas gifts for people, but everything else will continue along the normal as life continues even with these extra pressures on us.

We still have a child not starting school until Tuesday, but poor Mum still has to work so she will be spending a large part of the day with my Mother and me on Monday.  She loves craft and I have found a great craft for her this week, which I will include as our younger children's craft this week.  The children can use these little butterflies as parcel toppers, on cards or even stuck on barrettes or hair clips either for themselves or their friends.  (It is a girl craft, sorry boys, I promise to be more general again next week.)

So on with this week:
Recipe of the week:       Potato & chorizo tortilla
Absolutely delicious, we had it for 2 nights as we had leftovers. So it served 4. I also roasted some quartered tomatoes, pieces of capsicums and zucchini in olive oil, balsamic vinegar and salt & cracked black pepper. It was all totally delicious. It would also go very well with a tossed or Greek salad.

Craft of the week:        The Lavender is flowering everywhere here and is just amazing.  Be careful of the bees though.  So I thought this week it might be time to make gifts for people out of lavender.  Always handy, and you can use as gifts all year round.
Nature at its best.

Absolutely beautiful little butterflies that are so easily made (Providing no-one stabs another with the fork.  If concerned you can use a plastic fork provided it has four prongs). I am making some this afternoon so I will be confident when I make them tomorrow with my great niece.  Attach them to cards, present, barettes, hair clips or ties.  Probably great for any age group but certainly excellent for the 6 - 10 year old.

Christmas Countdown:

As I mentioned a couple of days ago, we should be making cakes and puddings NOW in preparation for Christmas.

With shopping, have you thought of LAY-BY?
Can you make the gifts now?
Are you baking & when?
