Continuing on with our midweek theme of a ‘Natural Home’ this week I decided to change this from the reviver area as I want the reviver to be more uplifting and not depressing. The last few areas where we can help ourselves, family & environment are very brief and are virtually fully explained in their titles.
- Installing non-toxic flooring
- Use of air filters
- Avoid lead based paints
- Check for radon & ASBESTOS
- Reduce chlorine exposure
- Avoid toxic furnishings
- Keep electrical pollution out of your bedroom
The two areas I will pick up on is the ASBESTOS & keeping electrical pollution out of your bedroom.
Asbestos was used in many houses built before 1980 and has also been used as a means of insulation and sometimes found in ducts and vinyl floor tiles.
It is such a cruel killer. However, risks only exist when the fibres are released into the air.
Keeping electrical pollution out of your bedroom is one I need to heed a little more. Apparently the electromagnetic fields (EMF’s) emitted from electrical appliances can disturb your sleep patterns & eventually your health. My bedroom is full of electricity (and health is a shocker) so maybe I need to heed this one a little more. The electric blanket (the only item I don’t have) is even a no-no & the suggestion is to go back to a hot water bottle. (So, me thinks I need another room for my electrical needs: T.V; clock radio (use radio once a week & never use alarm, mobile phone for that on the other side of my head…); lap-top – always plugged in; adsl; printer (not always plugged in); 2 x bedside lamps; heater or fan; Aromatherapy oil diffuser…I think that’s all. Let’s look forward to something brighter next week.)

This article today is still from the book ‘Natural Remedies’ by Laurel Vukovic, published by DK at www.dk.com.au and available from http://craftmadeeasy.com/
Something pleasant to look at & think about after reading above.
